A riveting account of the Battle of Agincourt, full of fascinating details for history and military buffs but still very readable.

Conan Doyle's terrific novel set in the Hundred Years War. The story follows young Alleyne Edricson as he leaves the monastery in which he was raised after his parents' death. His late father's wish was that he spend a year living in the world before deciding whether to return to the monastery or live a worldly life. Confused and naive, he nevertheless soon finds his way in the world, ending up in the service of the famous knight Sir Nigel Loring.

Conan Doyle's prequel to the White Company tells the story of Sir Nigel Loring, who makes his way from poverty to fame in the service of Sir John Chandos in the Hundred Years War.

Sure it's a kids book in some ways, but it's amazingly detailed with very good illustrations and lots of fascinating information about how castles actually worked.
-
Another great book from Osprey Publishing. This one is from their Essential Histories line, focussing more on the overall history of events but still with lots of details about battles, equipment and day-to-day life.
-
Osprey Publishing always does really well illustrated, heavily detailed books--great for gamers and modellers, but also for anyone who enjoys military history.
-
This book has had glowing reviews, and rightly so. The paperback is over 1000 pages--be warned! Very impressive.
-
What a great idea: Osprey Publishing teams up with a games company to make the best historical miniatures game rules ever (or so the reviews seem to say). Tonnes of illustrations and detail, drawing on Osprey's vast catalogue.

A wonderful television series, and what a bargain! If you haven't seen this, go get it right now. You'll be so glad you did.
-
Season two of the classic ITV series. Great stuff!
-
Season three of this wonderful series. 1000 minutes for $14!
-
Sure, it's obvious. But it's a classic.
-
Where geeky gaming all began. If you haven't had a date in fifteen years, JRR Tolkien is probably at least partly to blame.
-
If you haven't seen this yet, go do so. You'll be even more disappointed with Kevin Costner than you already are.
-
Not sure I could actually bring myself to watch this now, but can't resist listing it!

Respect.

What great memories of pouring over this book, with its overwrought prose and idiosyncratic organization. Gygax speaks to you, complete with potted political theories, long-winded lectures, dumb jokes, breathtaking detail and most of all pure passion. Nothing like the rules that came with Parker Bros games!
-
Great novel chronicling the supposed revival of English magic in early 19th century Britain. One day someone will do an RPG based on this world, if that hasn't happened already.

A great retelling of these classic stories, with beautiful illustrations.
